Meet the Experts

Carla DiGirolamo, MD, MSCP

Double Board-Certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist and Reproductive Endocrinologist. Dr. Carla has 20 years of experience as a fertility specialist and more recently as a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner. She is also an endocrine consultant for Wild Health and serves as the Fractional Director of Women’s Health at Eternal Life. She has been featured in Boston Magazine’s Top Doctors in the Boston area every year from 2019 - 2025.

Jill Colangelo

Research Affiliate at the University of Bern in Bern, Switzerland in the Department of Forensic Psychiatry with a concentration in Sports Psychiatry. She also mentors athletes and sports teams on the topics of endocrine health, hypothalamic amenorrhea, stress, overtraining syndrome, athletic identity, and related concerns.

Katherine Boere

Neuroscience PhD candidate at the University of Victoria and a performance innovation researcher at the Nike Sport Research Lab. An avid ultra runner herself, Katherine's research investigates the cognitive effects of ultra-endurance sports, with a particular interest in understanding how underfuelling affects brain function and performance in female athletes. 

Dr. Erin Ayala

Licensed Psychologist and Certified Mental Performance Consultant based in Minnesota who specializes in supporting the mental health and performance of active girls and women, particularly those in endurance sports. As a published author and avid endurance athlete, Dr. Ayala has been featured in Trailrunner Magazine and the New York Times, amongst other media outlets.

Laura Best, PhD

PhD in Medical Science focused on neuroimaging and mental health from the University of Toronto, certified yoga and mindfulness instructor, and recipient of numerous awards for her research and contributions to her community. Laura is a student in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia, conducting research at BC Children’s Hospital and is the Chair of the BrainSuite Social Cabinet for Women’s Brain Health Initiative.
